Intelligent energy for the future.

Header AI Campaign

An energy transition requires another level of technology and innovation - it requires artificial intelligence. A layer that connects people, data and decision-making. The digital backbone of our low-carbon future. An intelligent energy future. Shaped by smarter systems, faster decisions, stronger partnerships, and empowered people.

The catalyst for our transformation

The energy sector is undergoing a major transformation, and AI is the catalyst that allows us to move faster, smarter and safer. Unlocking additional value and efficiency, while driving the shift to cleaner energy solutions.

Smarter decisions, faster progress

We need to re-think traditional processes. Through intelligent systems, we can embed our global experience and knowledge directly into our operations so our experts spend less time searching, and more time unlocking the real value.

To accelerate, we collaborate

The energy transition requires strong partnerships and collaborative efforts to move at pace.

At OMV, we actively seek partnerships with those who share our committment and passion to develop intelligent solutions and accelerate innovation. Turning research, into impact.

Led by people, empowered by machine learning

At the heart of all of this is our people. A tranformation led by people, empowered by machine learning. By harnessing the strengths of both human expertise and advanced technology, we lay the foundation for a stronger energy future.

Turning complexity into clarity and data into decisions, AI is an essential part of our mission to create a world where sustainable energy is a reality for everyone.

Optimizing field development in low-carbon business projects

Scaling low-carbon solutions at a fast enough pace to match the energy transition requires new technologies and smarter ways of working. That is why we are supporting Stanford University and TerraAI to test agent based AI technology to optimize field development in low-carbon business projects.

This technology is not generative AI, but analytical, agent-based AI. Purpose-built to support decision-making in complex technical environments – and already we are seeing the benefits. With a more than 25% increase in project value, a 50% reduction in quantified subsurface risk, and significant acceleration of development timelines, AI is helping us navigate uncertainty with more confidence.

Turning knowledge into actionable intelligence with NAIC, a tool powered by AI

While globally we remain on course for a future powered by renewable energy, oil and gas remain essential bridging fuels to a sustainable future. Extracting these final reserves in the most efficient way is at the heart of a new tool powered by AI – the Norwegian AI Companion (NAIC).

An innovative tool designed to remove the data burden from our experts so they can spend more time developing ideas and exploring more sustainable opportunities. A tool that is set to play an important role on many levels as we transition.

AI-powered analytics, central to scaling e-mobility

Scaling electric mobility is not as simple as installing more chargers. Each new charging point must operate within tight grid constraints, uncertain demand patterns, and a clear commercial framework. Electricity capacity must be secured in advance, capital must be deployed carefully, and infrastructure must perform reliably over time.

At OMV, the e mobility business is growing within these real world constraints. As the charging network expands, data driven analytics and increasingly, artificial intelligence are becoming important tools to support better decisions, manage complexity, and prepare the business for scale.

OMV AI Hub

OMV invests in the continuous development of its workforce, building in-house AI tools to ensure current and future employees are equipped with the expertise needed for a sustainable future. And with a range of upskilling initiatives showing colleagues how to use them effectively, the team is driving full-scale business transformation.

With ~2,500 active users and ~250,000 prompts per month, the OMV AI Hub has moved beyond experimentation and is now an everyday capability for our OMV team. Empowering our people for a more efficient and innovative future.

HSSE remains a core value and AI is an enabler to support it.

Our HSSE vision is “Committed to Zero Harm – Protect People, Environment, and Assets.

Digitalization and advanced analytics, including AI, offer new opportunities to strengthen this commitment. AI can complement human expertise and enhance informed decision-making across HSSE activities.

Used responsibly, these technologies can help improve transparency, consistency, and learning, contributing to safer operations and a stronger safety culture.

By combining machine learning with innovation, technology and new ways of working, we are shaping the future of energy at OMV. A future driven by smarter systems, faster decisions, stronger partnerships, and empowered people. An intelligent energy future.
