Bitumen is a petroleum derivate that has been used as natural asphalt in road construction and other applications for over 4,000 years. Today, to meet modern construction requirements, it is made from a complex mixture of specialized processed crude oil components.
We create our premium quality bitumen products from carefully selected crude oils, using gentle distillation to ensure the highest standards. For over 35 years, our portfolio has also included polymer-modified bitumen – OMV Starfalt® PmB – for heavy-duty applications. We’ve already supplied over 2.5 million metric tons of OMV Starfalt® PmB to customers across the world, demonstrating its extraordinary quality.

OMV Starfalt® PmB
Some roads have challenging traffic or weather conditions that conventional paving grade bitumen cannot handle. That’s why we offer OMV Starfalt® PmB, an elastomer-modified bitumen designed for paving heavy-load and high-traffic roads, as well as other high-stress surfaces.

OMV Paving Grade Bitumen
Our paving grade bitumen provides exceptional road building performance and exceeds the requirements of EN 12591 in various grades.
Bitumen is essential for producing asphalt used in road construction worldwide.
The quality of bitumen directly impacts the durability and performance of the roads.
Our paving grade bitumen is distilled from carefully selected crude oils to meet our customers´ needs.
It is versatile and suitable for many types of asphalt mixtures and industrial applications.

OMV Hard Paving Grade Bitumen and OMV Industrial Bitumen
We produce both hard paving grade bitumen (EN 13924-1, CE marking required) and bitumen for industrial applications (EN 13304 and EN 13305, CE marking not applicable).
Our offer:
- Our OMV Bitumen 10/20, a hard paving grade bitumen, is highly rigid and has low penetration, making it ideal for mastic asphalt production.
- Our industrial bitumen, including OMV Bitumen 90/10, has a high penetration index and optimal low-temperature performance, which are essential properties for roofing and waterproofing membranes, paints, and mastic asphalt applications.
- Our OMV Bitumen H, with a penetration index ≤ 2,0 (air-rectified bitumen), is suitable for a wide range of applications, including flooring (screed material), varnishes, roofing, and mastic.
Special Products
The sustainability benefits of warm mix asphalt (WMA) are well known: energy savings, lower emissions, slower binder aging, and improved durability. We offer two different warm-mix products, OMV (WMA) and OMV LE (WMA), suitable for different low-temperature techniques.
