In 2022, OMV scored 73/100 points in the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), putting it in the 97th percentile of its industry. Based on this result, OMV received the following distinctions: inclusion in the DJSI World, DJSI Europe,  SAM Sustainability Yearbook. OMV is included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World) since 2018.

In 2023, OMV Aktiengesellschaft received a rating of AAA (on a scale of AAA-CCC) in the MSCI ESG Ratings assessment for the 11th year in a row. This score places OMV among the best 14% oil and gas companies in terms of ESG performance. 


In 2023, OMV Aktiengesellschaft  was rated Prime with a score of B-. This score places OMV among the best 10% oil and gas companies in terms of ESG performance.



OMV is ranked in the top 6% of the Integrated Oil&Gas sector in Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Ratings as of December 2022, achieving a score of 27.4 (medium risk). OMV’s management of sustainability is rated as strong. 


Moody's Analytics
In 2023, OMV scored 63/100 points in its ESG Overall Score.  OMV’s Moody’s Analytics score leads to its inclusion in several ESG indices such as Euronext Climate Europe, a selection of best European companies in terms of energy transition score, and Euronext Vigeo Euro 120 Index, composed of the 120 highest-ranking European companies according to ESG performance.  


In December 2022, OMV was awarded the ranking of "Leadership A–“ for the seventh  time in a row. This makes OMV one among the best 15% companies in the global oil and gas sector. 

OMV has been providing data to CDP for it to evaluate its transparency and performance with regard to climate change since 2011. 


OMV was re-listed in the FTSE4Good Index in 2023 and has now been confirmed as a component of the FTSE4Good Index Series every year since 2015.

In 2022, OMV scored 68/100 points in the Ecovadis scorecard, placing it in the 92nd percentile among all companies globally.
Transition Pathway Initiative
TPI rates OMV’s management of its greenhouse gas emissions and of risks and opportunities related to the low-carbon transition as Level 4 (strategic assessment).
