New OMV Energy gives boost for the Olympic Winter: ÖSV Ski Jumping Team lands at Schwechat Refinery

October 16, 2013 - 2:00 pm (CET)

  • OMV extends sponsoring contract for another two years
  • Successful cooperation for more than 20 years
  • Strong partners for the highlights of the coming ski jumping season

The very first touchdown of the Austrian Ski Jumpers on October 16 was a premier in the more than 50-year history of the Schwechat Refinery. OMV’s extension of the ÖSV Ski Jumping Team’s sponsoring contract for another two years marked this special occasion. The successful 24-year partnership was thus reaffirmed before the start of the winter season’s ski jumping competitions, but also the Olympic Games in Sotchi.

"We have been a partner of the Austrian Ski Jumping Team for more than 20 years and have now extended our partnership for two more years. This new energy gives our athletes a boost for the Olympic winter in Sotchi," explains OMV CEO, Gerhard Roiss.

During a press conference held at the refinery, the Austrian Ski Jumping Team revealed details about their goals for the upcoming Olympics and presented themselves for this year’s team photo as well as a series of pictures that were taken against the backdrop of the refinery.

Alexander Pointner, ÖSV Head Coach of the Men’s Ski Jumping Team, talks about the goals set for the coming season: "There are many events lined up for the coming season. Highlights are the Four-Hills-Tournament, the Ski Flying World Cup at Kulm, the Olympic Games and the Ski Flying World Championships in Harrachov. Particularly now, as we are preparing ourselves for the season, it is important for us to be able to rely on a partner such as OMV. One cannot predict a gold medal or winning the tour, but our team knows how to win. I am also convinced that we will put up a good performance as a team. Every athlete has his eye on a medal. Given these prerequisites, I am sure that we will once again take the Nations’ Cup back home to Austria."

Harald Rodlauer, ÖSV Head Coach of the Ladies Ski Jumping Team, is convinced of his team’s capabilities: "There is a long and fantastically challenging season on our doorstep and the very first Olympic Games for our ladies. Right from the beginning and throughout the season, we want to show top performance and use our newly gained self-confidence to win a medal in Sotchi. I am confident that our ladies will achieve this."
