The program is available across three different business areas within OMV in Austria, preparing you for a dynamic future in Fuels & Feedstock, Energy, or Corporate IT.

Depending on the type of traineeship, you’ll enroll on a 1- or 3-year program. During this time, you’ll gain hands-on experience and participate in meaningful and challenging projects.

Types of traineeship:

Technical Trainee Program

Energy

Join us as a technical trainee in our Energy business area and build a solid foundation for your career in the energy sector. You’ll gain hands-on experience, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and broaden both your practical skills and theoretical knowledge. Along the way, you’ll connect with global peers, learn from industry experts, and take part in specialized courses designed to deepen your expertise. Why join?

As a trainee, you’ll embark on a 3-year development program, including at least 3 months of hands-on practical project experience. During your traineeship, you’ll work and grow in one of our six technical Energy skill pools: Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering, Facilities Engineering & Maintenance, Operations (Drilling, Production), Projects, or Well Engineering. Your practical learning experience will be enhanced by mentorship, guidance from experienced colleagues, and theory-based training opportunities.

  • You’ve recently completed a master’s degree in a technical discipline, such as Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering, Maintenance or Operations.
  • You bring a broad, cross-functional perspective to your work.

IT Trainee Program

Corporate IT

Application process

1. Apply online

Find our Trainee Program vacancies on the OMV job board and submit your CV and cover letter.

2. Initial contact

If your application matches our criteria, our Talent Acquisition Team will reach out for a virtual interview or invite you directly to an Assessment Center.

3. Assessment Center

We’ll invite you to a 2-hour session, which will include a self-presentation, case study discussion, and role play (depending on the program).

4. Final decision

We’ll provide feedback after the Assessment Center. Successful candidates will receive an offer to join the Trainee Program.
