This year OMV is once again raising money to support "Licht ins Dunkel"
- OMV – a reliable partner of "Licht ins Dunkel" for over 10 years
- So far this year OMV has raised EUR 30,000 through the sale of VIVA thermo-coffee-mugs
- The money will be used to support a project carried out by the Austrian children's charity organization "Österreichische Kinderfreunde"
OMV has been a reliable partner of "Licht ins Dunkel" for more than ten years. This year, VIVA thermo-coffee-mugs are effectively being turned into Christmas donation boxes, as one euro is being donated to “Licht ins Dunkel” for each coffee-mug that is sold. The money will again be used to support the local community work of the Österreichische Kinderfreunde organization: trained educationalists provide targeted recreational and learning support for children and adolescents from socially and structurally disadvantaged families, and advise on the prevention of conflict and violence.
"Licht ins Dunkel" has been engaged in charitable work for the past 40 years. It has become a widely accepted tradition to take stock in the period leading up to Christmas. So once a year, the focus is placed on people who often attract too little attention on a day-to-day basis.
VIVA thermo cups effectively turned into donation boxes
OMV has been a reliable partner of the charitable organization "Licht ins Dunkel" for over ten years. In December this year, there was a sudden surge of sales of the popular VIVA thermo-coffee-mugs, enabling OMV to raise EUR 30,000 in charitable donations. "We take part in this campaign every year because it is a cause close to our heart. We certainly don't take for granted the tremendous support our customers give to this campaign and would like to say a big thank you to them all," says Alois Wach, head of OMV's filling station business in Austria and Germany.
Regular support for children and adolescents across Austria
The donation will support the work of helping approximately 2,000 socially and structurally disadvantaged children and adolescents in urban centers. Trained educationalists work with young people with difficult social backgrounds to integrate them into the social and cultural life of their community. This gives the young people valuable support that their parents have been unable to provide for a variety of reasons. The mentors also help to resolve difficulties at school, family conflicts and problems with the police.
An annual event: the donation is traditionally handed over on December 24
As in previous years, the donation of EUR 30,000 will be handed over at the traditional "Licht ins Dunkel" Gala at ORF. The money will enable the successful work of the Österreichische Kinderfreunde to continue for another year. "We value one thing above all others in projects of this type: sustainability. As far as we are concerned, this is not about making someone happy at Christmas – it's about helping young people growing up in disadvantaged circumstances to have the opportunity to live an independent life with a brighter future," says Wach.
