Climate change: Forest as part of the solution
Clearing the air of fine dust, protecting against natural hazards, storing water, providing cooling and offering habitats for countless animal and plant species - the forest offers us all this and stands as part of the solution to climate change.
On March 21 we celebrate the "International Day of Forests" which was established in the late 1970s. This year's theme, "Restoring Forests: A Pathway to Nature and Society Recovery," aims to communicate the importance of forests and ecosystems, as well as the contribution of forests to human well-being.
For this reason, reforestation has been taking place since 2019 on an area in Matzen provided by OMV - and not with just any trees: A mixture of 15 tree species is growing into the Climate Research Rorest.
