The OMV Card with ROUTEX function can help you settling your toll payments across Europe. Either it is a vignette for light vehicles or an On-Board-Unit for heavy duty vehicles, you can find a variety of options provided with the OMV Card.

Our toll services cover all continental Europe – from the Atlantic to the Black Sea. You will receive a list of all your toll payments together with your OMV invoice. They will be broken down into countries and services. Registrations, payments and the tariffs of the tolls are handled differently in each country – you can find an overview of OMV´s toll portfolio in the following sections per country.

OMV SMART TOLL EUROPE

OMV Smart Toll Europe, utilizing EETS technology (European Electronic Toll Service), can be used for heavy vehicles in Austria, Bulgaria and Hungary.

In Austria all vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes require a vignette on Austrian motorways and highways. You can purchase toll sticker or electronic vignettes at OMV filling stations by your Routex card.

Above 3.5 tonnes

For HGVs (heavy goods vehicles) and busses with a weight of more than 3.5 tonnes a kilometer-based toll system called "GO Maut" with the On-Board-Unit (OBU) "GO-Box" applies on Austrian motorways and highways.

The toll tariff for vehicles above 3.5 tonnes, depends on the distance driven, the number of axles, and the EURO-emission class.

In addition, special tolls for all vehicles are charged on the following road sections:

  • A9 - Pyhrn motorway: Bosruck Tunnel, Gleinalm Tunnel
  • A10 -Tauern motorway: Tauern Tunnel, Katschberg Tunnel
  • A11 - Karawanken motorway: Karawanken Tunnel
  • A13 - Brenner motorway: Entire route
  • A13 - Brenner motorway: Exit Stubai
  • S16 - Arlberg expressway: Arlberg road tunnel

In the Baltic countries electronic vignettes need to be purchased for vehicles over 3,5 tonnes (in Estonia and Lithuania) or 3 tonnes (in Latvia). They can be purchased at CircleK filling stations with Routex card (separately in each country: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania).

There is no toll collection for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in Belgium.

Above 3.5 tonnes

For vehicles over 3.5 tonnes the satellite-supported toll system Viapass with separate On-Board Units (OBUs) for every vehicle and license plate is being used for toll collection in Belgium. The kilometer charge is based on the emission class, the vehicle weight and the type of road.

There are three regional toll areas in Belgium: the Flemish region, the Brussels region and the Walloon region. Each of these regions independently sets the toll to be paid.

Below 3.5 tonnes

Vehicles below 3.5 tonnes shall use e-vignettes. There are annual, quarterly, monthly, weekly and weekend e-vignettes available.

Above 3.5 tonnes

A distance-based e-toll collection system is applied for vehicles above 3.5 tonnes (heavy-duty trucks and buses), which can be paid either with a so-called "route-pass" – a one-way ticket that is valid for a certain route - or automatically via an On-board unit (OBU). OMV card customers can purchase a route-pass or can top-up their OBUs with OMV card at all OMV filling stations in Bulgaria and at some OMV filling stations in Serbia. The route pass is valid 24 hours from the time of its activation. The prices depend on the vehicle type, its total technically permissible maximum mass, its EURO stage, the total number of axles and the road category.

In Czech Republic an e-vignette for all vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes is required on all motorways and highways. (Please, note that e-vignettes are currently not available to purchase with your OMV Card and/or at OMV filling stations).

Above 3.5 tonnes

The Czech toll system is charged for vehicles and buses above 3.5 tonnes on motorways and highways. The toll is collected automatically with an On-Board-Unit (OBU) in both prepaid and post-paid mode.

The tariffs are based on the vehicles weight, the number of axles and the emission class.

Eurovignette is an e-vignette required for vehicles above 12 tonnes (buses are excluded) and valid for Eurovignette countries: Denmark, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Sweden. Therefore you only need one valid Eurovignette even if you go through more Eurovignette countries.

Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and a height below 3 meters pay the toll either before entering or after leaving the motorway or with the On-Board Unit (OBU) called Liber-t.

Above 3.5 tonnes

For vehicles over 3.5 tonnes or a height more than 3 meters, a toll will be charged in France, through an On-Board Unit (OBU) called TIS PL. The TIS-PL OBU can also be used for the Liefkenshoek Tunnel in Belgium and the A4 motorway (Katowice – Krakow) in Poland.

The tariffs of the toll depend on the height of the vehicle, the weight and the number of axles.

Telepass EU

Alternatively the Telepass EU gives you the opportunity to easily pay the toll for Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and parts of Belgium (Liefkenshoek Tunnel) and Poland (A4 motorway between Krakow and Katowice) with one device only. Especially frequent cross-border drivers in Southwest Europe will benefit from reduced costs and less administration with the Telepass EU. Besides that you do not need the VIAcard for Italy anymore.

For vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes no toll is charged in Germany.

Above 7.5 tonnes

In Germany all heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) above 7.5 tonnes have to pay a distance-based toll to the toll provider Toll Collect. This can be either easily settled with the use of an OBU (On-Board-Unit) in registered mode or done manually via ticketing (non-registered mode). 

The toll tariff in Germany is based on the emission class, the number of axles and the length of the toll stretch.

OMV Card customers registered at Toll Collect with an OBU in Post-Pay method, are not affected of any changes and the German toll is still settled with the OMV Card.

Payment method for non-registered customers:

  • Online via Website or App

Payment method for registered customers:

  • Automatically via the OBU

After registration the OBU can be installed from an authorized Toll-Collect Partner.

In Hungary two different types of e-vignettes are available for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes as well as for busses:

Regional e-vignette:
valid for one calendar year
National e-vignette:
available for one calendar year, one month and 10 days

Above 3.5 tonnes

All vehicles over 3.5 tonnes (except buses) are subject to tolls in Hungary, which can be paid either via a route ticket or On-board Unit (OBU). As an OMV card customer you can:

  • Purchase a route ticket,
  • Purchase and top-up an OBU,

at OMV filling stations in Hungary or other sales points of NUSZ in Hungary, Austria, Slovakia and Romania. (see the list of OMV filling stations and NUSZ sales points under the links below)

The tariffs depend on the distance, the type of the vehicle, the emission class and the number of axles.

In Italy the toll for all vehicles can be paid via Telepass devices. As an OMV Card customer you can pay the toll as follows:

  • Telepass Low-End – this small device can be used for the electronic billing of Italian toll of all vehicle types. The Telepass-System is car-bound. Therefore you need a license plate for your registration. There are special Telepass-lanes at toll stations you can drive through without stopping.
  • Telepass EU – gives you the opportunity to easily pay the toll for Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and parts of Belgium (Liefkenshoek Tunnel) and Poland (A4 motorway between Krakow and Katowice) with one device only. Especially frequent cross-border drivers in Southwest Europe will benefit from reduced costs and less administration with the Telepass EU.

Telepass EU can be also ordered without enabling toll payment in Spain and Portugal.

Vehicles, incl. passenger cars, buses and trucks too, that are not registered in Moldova require an e-vignette for using roads in the country. E-vignettes can be purchased by OMV Card at Petrom filling stations in Moldova. Available validity periods are as follows depending on the vehicle type: 7, 14, 30, 90, 180 days and 1 year.

Toll payment for the highways in Poland is different by highways either for light or heavy vehicles.

Motorway A4 (between Krakow and Katowice):

  • For vehicles above 3.5 tonnes the devices TIS-PL1, TIS-PL2 and Telepass EU can be used to pay the toll for the motorway A4. These devices enables the toll payment in other countries too (see the attached table).

On the Motorways A1 (Rusocin-Nowe Marzy), A2 (Konin-Swiecko) and A4 (Kraków-Katowice) OMV Card can be used for all vehicles.

In Portugal all vehicles are subject of tolls. The toll tariff depends on the type of vehicle, the number of axles and the height of the vehicle measured at the first axle.

The toll can be paid either manually or automatically through the ViaVerde On-Board Unit.

The motorway vignette is mandatory in Romania not only on motorways, but also on other state roads except those in municipalities. 
For vehicles up to 3.5 t are on sale vignettes (so-called "ro-vignettes") with a validity period of 7 days, 30 days, 90 days and 12 months and can be purchased as e-vignettes at any OMV & Petrom filling station in Romania.

The toll collection for heavy vehicles weighing more than 3.5 t takes place in the same way as for passenger cars by means of an electronic vignette.

In addition to e-vignettes, card customers can pay also Fetești Cernavodă bridge crossing fees.

In Serbia all vehicles are subject to tollentering a toll highway or motorway. The toll rate depends on the vehicle category, height, the number of axles and the maximum permissible weight. Payment can be made using an On Board Unit (OBU).

The OBU (TAG device) is available for passenger cars as well as for trucks. The device is available at 62 select filling stations in Serbia and credit can be topped up in advance using the Pre-Pay mode at 15 OMV filing stations. For commercial use of the TAG-Device, a contract with the Serbian toll operator has to be concluded.

In Slovakia an e-vignette for all vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes (except motorcycles) is required on every road with signs for motorways and highways. E-Vignettes are available to purchase with your OMV Card at every OMV filling station in Slovakia.

Above 3.5 tonnes

The Slovakian toll system is called MYTO and is charged for vehicles and busses (as well as camping vans) above 3.5 tonnes on motorways, highways and higher-ranked roads. The toll is collected automatically from the service provider Sky Toll with an On-Board-Unit (OBU).

The tariffs are based on the vehicles weight, the number of axles and the emission class.

A toll is charged for all vehicles to use motorways and the Karawanks Tunnel (Karawankentunnel).

Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes require an e-vignette in Slovenia.

Above 3.5 tonnes

Vehicles with the maximum permissible weight over 3.5 tonnes (heavy vehicles) require a DarsGo unit. The DarsGo unit automatically calculates tolls based on the distance driven, depending on the vehicle type or toll rate category and the EURO emission class.

User of the DarsGo system can decide between PrePay and PostPay options using our OMV Card with ROUTEX function.

Heavy vehicles on any Swiss road will have to pay the Distance-Related Heavy Vehicles Fee (HVF).

The HVF applies to heavy vehicles with a permissible laden weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes and is calculated on the basis of three criteria:

  • number of kilometres covered on Swiss territory
  • permissible laden weight of vehicle
  • vehicle emissions

The toll can be purchased:

  • without a recording device simply with the OMV Card or
  • with a recording device – so-called EMOTACH (without use of OMV Card).

When using OMV Card, payment can be made when leaving the country at the processing terminals at the customs offices.
