- OMV is positioned with a multi-brand strategy in Austria and Romania
OMV operates a filling station network of around 2.100 filling stations in ten countries (including OMV, Avanti, FE-Trading and Petrom). OMV positions itself with a desitinct Two-Brand strategy in Austria and Romania. With the brands OMV and VIVA Genusswelt the corporation focuses on a quality strategy, while the brands Avanti, FE-Trading (AT) as well as Petrom (RO) engage in a discount concept and they thereby prefect the filling station portfolio.
In the filling station and customer business OMV focuses on those markets, where the supply integration is ensured through own refineries. After opening the first OMV filling station in Vienna in 1990 the expansion in Central and Southeast Europe started with the first opening of an OMV filling station in Hungary in 1991. Until 2004 filling stations in Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria as well as Serbia followed. In 2004 OMV purchased the largest Romanian oil and gas company "Petrom" with a filling station network of 600 stations.
