#OpenforArt – OMV & the Leopold Museum are celebrating Leopoldi Day 2022

Once again this year, Leopoldi Day is a very special holiday in the Leopold Museum. Under the motto #’OpenforArt, OMV, a longstanding partner of the museum, is facilitating free entry to the museum for everyone on November 15.

Leopoldi Day recalls Saint Leopold, patron saint of Vienna and Lower Austria and the national patron of Austria. In Vienna and Lower Austria, this is a school-free day. The OMV and the Leopold Museum therefore invite you to a multifaceted program for young and old with free admission. Around 2,600 visitors took advantage of the great offer in 2021.

Free art for the whole family to enjoy

Guided tours will be held every hour through the 3 current exhibitions. In addition, children aged 6 to 12 are invited to an open atelier. Special workshops for children and youngsters, exploring different themes, should entice the whole family to spend a day in the Leopold Museum.

LEO children’s atelier and surprise OMV gift

This year there are 2 stations for children aged 6-12 in the LEO children's studio.

In Station 1, the children discover Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele and their creative connection to shapes and colors. Inspired by them, they let the shapes dance themselves with drawn scissors, colorful paper and pens.

In station 2, children get to know Katharina's bedroom, which Josef Hoffmann designed 120 years ago for the 17-year-old girl and which is now in the Leopold Museum. With the new handicraft block from paperlatur and OMV, the children then set up the room according to their own ideas and wishes. The kids get another block from us as a gift to take home.

Participation is possible on site at any time from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm

Workshops for groups of children and program for youngster

  • “Young Style I Art Nouveau? “ for children from 6-10 years: 10:15 pm, 12:00 pm
Welcome to our design workshop! Have you ever designed a vase, a book cover or a toy? In the exhibition, we get inspiration and ideas from the furniture from the Wiener Werkstätte, the clothes from Emilie Flöge or the objects from the School of Applied Arts. Whether geometric vases or floral toys, the selection is huge. In our design workshop, we become jewelry and card designers ourselves!
  • “Color Explosive!” for young people from 10-14 years: 12:00 pm, 1:45 pm
Egon Schiele and the Expressionists wanted to express their feelings. They used very specific shades and color combinations for this. Whether colorful or dark, whether wild or well behaved - with the help of the color wheel we can track down their secrets. We let ourselves be inspired by the Austrian Expressionists and let our feelings out in the studio! Who will create the most colorful picture in the class?

Immersive Room “Neonland”

With the help of interactive visuals, visitors immerse themselves in a virtual world and can actively change and influence it with their movements. An impressive experience for young and old.
