For vehicles up to 7.5 tons no toll is charged in Germany.

Above 7.5 tons

In Germany all heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) above 7.5 tons have to pay a distance-based toll to the toll provider Toll Collect. This can be either easily settled with the use of an OBU (On-Board-Unit) or done manually.

The toll tariff in Germany is based on the emission class, the number of axles and the length of the toll stretch. Since 01.07.2018 all national highways (52.000km) are toll roads.

OMV Card customers registered at Toll Collect with an OBU in Post-Pay method, are not affected of any changes and the German toll is still settled with the OMV Card.

Payment method for non-registered customers:

  • At a Toll-terminal: Terminals were reduced to 1.100 locations
  • Online via Website or App

Payment method for registered customers:

  • Automatically via the OBU

After registration the OBU can be installed from an authorized Toll-Collect Partner.

In Italy the toll for all vehicles can be paid via the VIAcard or the combination of VIAcard and Telepass. Your OMV Card offers different ways to pay the toll via your OMV invoice:

  • VIAcard – this card is not connected to your license plate and can be used as cashless payment method at toll stations.
  • Telepass – this small device can be used in addition to the VIAcard for the electronic billing of all vehicle types. The Telepass-System is car-bound. Therefore you need a license plate for your registration. There are special Telepass-lanes at toll stations you can drive through without stopping.
  • NEW – Telepass DUAL – alternatively the new Telepass DUAL gives you the opportunity to easily pay the toll for Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and parts of Belgium (Liefkenshoek Tunnel) and Poland (A4 motorway between Krakow and Katowice) with one device only. Especially frequent cross-border drivers in Southwest Europe will benefit from reduced costs and less administration with the Telepass DUAL.
