OMV offers innovative energy solutions and high-quality petrochemical products in a responsible manner. Innovation and technological progress have always played a key role at OMV. These cuttingedge technologies can be fully experienced at the ITC in Gänserndorf.
With the visit of Lower AustriaŹ¼s Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, the OMV Innovation & Technology Center was inaugurated on August 31, 2020. The outstanding technologies of OMV Upstream, which are developed in the Weinviertel and applied worldwide, are exhibited on approximately 1,600 m² by means of state-of-the-art presentation technology.
The main focus was placed on the technology areas of geology & geophysics, drilling technology, production technology (artificial lift), smart oil recovery, materials & corrosion, saltwater treatment and nanotechnology.
Digitization is the unifying discipline here and an important building block of all technologies. The OMV Innovation & Technology Center is aimed at OMV business partners, investors, OMV employees, universities, as well as schools and interested visitors.

Leading OMV technologies in the Exploration & Production have been selected, described and are exhibited in the ITC. The main focus was on the technology areas geology & Geophysics, Drilling Technology, Production Technology (Artificial Lift), Smart Oil Recovery, Materials & Corrosion, Saltwater Treatment and Nanotechnology. The topic of digitization acts as a connecting element in all these fields.
An architectural highlight
The building is rotated from the base rotated upwards by 15 degrees. On the one hand, this reflects the rotation of a drill string is mirrored. On the other hand, the 15 degrees corresponds exactly to the main Weinviertel, from where the OMV technologies in Exploration & Production conquer all continents.
The interior of the building also features the symbolic rotation. Around a seven-meter-high 3D theater, a ramp winds around a seven-meter-high various technology stations technology stations. - Guided tours are possible from Monday to Thursday between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (last start time). On a Friday, a guided tour is possible until 12:00.
