Strategy 2030
Setting New Standards in Chemicals and Materials
Chemicals & Materials will not only be our growth engine but will balance sustainability, risk and returns, while strengthening our resilience against market dynamics. We will therefore further strengthen, expand, and diversify our business. Polyolefins are the largest market segment in the production of plastic goods and remain essential for various industries such as energy, automotive, packaging, construction, and healthcare.
As a global, backward-integrated polyolefin producer ranking among the top 10 worldwide, we can build on a strong position. Our extensive innovation capabilities with innovation centers in Austria, Sweden, Finland, and Abu Dhabi, as well as 10,000 successfully filed and granted patents are a strong foundation for future success.
Our goal is to become a leading global supplier of specialty polyolefin solutions. We will expand our business in attractive markets, particularly in North America and Asia and aim to grow our sustainable polyolefin production and represent up to around 40 percent of Europe’s total polyolefin production.
The spearhead of the OMV Strategy 2030 and the C&M business will be conquering the value circle.
Our patented chemical recycling technologies as well as standard and advanced mechanical recycling technologies put us in an advantageous position to become a global leader in circular economy solutions. We will not only focus on plastics recycling but also address areas like carbon capture and usage (CCU). In our C2PAT joint project with Verbund and Lafarge, for instance, we aim to capture 700,000 metric tons of CO2 from cement production and transform it into sustainable hydrocarbons.
