Since 60 years safe, clean, productive

Two years after OMV was established in 1956, the groundwork for the expansion of the Schwechat Refinery was laid, and in 1960 the new plant became operative. Today the Schwechat Refinery is one of the largest and most modern inland refineries in Europe and is where OMV distills and refines crude oil and semi-finished products, converting them into high-quality mineral oil products and petrochemical raw materials. 9.6 million tons of crude oil can be processed annually in the high-tech plants in Schwechat. The Schwechat Refinery is supplied by the Adria-Wien-Pipeline (AWP), a branch connection of the Transalpine Oil Pipeline (TAL), and one of the most important pipelines transporting crude oil from the Mediterranean to Northern Europe.

OMV has owned the Burghausen Refinery in Bavaria (Germany) since 1987 and predominantly produces middle distillates, petrochemical raw material and petrol coke for the aluminum industry. The Burghausen Refinery’s annual crude oil processing capacity is 3.8 m tons.

• Residue-free crude oil processing through complete conversion of heavy crude oil based components into high-quality products.
• The international airport Munich which is located approximately 125 km away is supplied with jet fuel by pipeline.

Petrobrazi Refinery is located in the South-East region of Romania, near Ploiesti City, a highly developed industrial area.

The refinery is one of the most important in Romania and it is operated by OMV Petrom, the biggest oil and gas producer in the South-Eastern of Europe. With OMV's takeover various investments such as environment protection or the modernization process of the refinery have been realized. The modernization project has been finished in July 2014 and stands for the increased competitiveness on the market and optimization of production processes. An annual amount of 4.5 million tons crude oil can be processed in the Petrobrazi Refinery.

• 2017: New Polyfuels unit to be built
• 2018: Planned turnaround
• 2019: Completion of the new Polyfuels unit
