Toll system in Slovakia
Road toll in Slovakia: Easy and efficient handling with your OMV Card
2010 will be the end of buying toll stickers for road usage
in Slovakia. Instead all road motor vehicles with a maximum
permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tons will have to pay toll via
electronic toll or ticketing.
Electronic toll:
The toll applies to specified sections of motorways,
expressways, international roads “E” and first-class roads in
the length of approximately 2,400 km. The electronic toll is
facilitated using on-board units of service provider
Skytoll.
Vehicles are categorized in different tariff groups based on the maximum permissible weight, axle count and emission class (for details see download). If the emission class is not proofed at registration, the vehicle will automatically be assigned to the emission class 0 which leads to higher toll payments.
Payment with your OMV card makes handling the new toll easy and saves you time. You will get one invoice for toll payments, fuel and other products and services purchased with the OMV Card. Choose between two convenient solutions:
- No pre-financing with post-pay mode: You pay only for the incurred toll transactions which means no pre-charging your on-board units (OBU) and thus pre-financing the toll expenses. OMV assists you in the several steps necessary for a successful road toll registration free of charge!

No prior registration with pre-pay mode: By pre-charging your OBU using the OMV Card there is no more need to permanently check the amount of credit available or give cash to your drivers. For this payment method there is no prior registration necessary. Your drivers can directly go to the contact and distribution points (among them 14 OMV filling stations) for registering, picking up the on-board units and paying.

Ticketing
Ticketing is an alternative toll system that can be used only
by transit hauliers. It is based on the principle of issuing a
time-limited ticket at selected transit border crossings and it
applies to the use of 18 specified transit routes in the Slovak
Republic.
Advantages of the ticketing system:
- No On-Board Unit needed
- No guarantee of EUR 50,- for the On-Board Unit needed
- No advance toll payment of EUR 50,- minimum needed
- Easy payment of ticket with your OMV EuroTruck Card
Please note: If you are already registered for the Slovak
electronic toll system, you have to unregister and return your
on-board unit before you can use the ticketing system.
