OMV Move & Help 2007: Taking Responsibility for More Safety

In 2007 OMV’s Move & Help project is focusing on road safety. All sponsorship activities and other efforts are concerned with this subject. “After so much positive feedback on OMV Move & Help, we are adding another important issue to our social responsibility agenda – road safety,“ said OMV CEO Wolfgang Ruttenstorfer. “Only with safety can you get where you want to go.“

A Bright Idea: Reflector Strips at OMV Filling Stations

OMV filling stations in ten European countries will be committing themselves wholeheartedly to road safety in a cross regional campaign beginning in August. A total of 200,000 reflector strips will go on sale in Austria, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia. The proceeds will support education and road safety projects run by Caritas, SOS Children's Villages and UNICEF.

The OMV reflector strips have the words "See Me" printed on them, conveying the message that being seen helps protect you. The reflector strip enables drivers to see children and teenagers even in low light conditions. Stickers on available post cards, also bearing the "See Me" slogan, can be attached to clothing or bags, or mailed to friends.

OMV Move & Help at All Rally-Events

A further dimension of this year's OMV Move & Help campaign is the support of the OMV Rally Team. The OMV drivers will share their knowledge and experience on the subject of road safety with children and others who are interested. Every kilometer covered in this season's special stages by the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team drivers will add EUR 20 to OMV Move & Help. The proceeds will support education programs - including instruction on road safety - for more than 35,000 children and teenagers in Europe and Pakistan. The latest donation totals and all related activities can be followed on a LCD display in the service area of the OMV Kronos Citroen World Rally Team and at www.owrt.com.

In addition, children up to the age of 14 were invited to give OMV driver Manfred Stohl's rally car a makeover. From more than 240 entries from 14 countries, a jury selected the three most creative designs. Then a final voting round began in mid May at www.owrt.com. The OMV Move & Help rally car with the new look will take part in the World Rally Championship race in Germany on August 17-19, 2007. The lucky winner and his or her family will be there to experience it all live.

OMV Move & Help at Run & Fun

Many OMV staff members were active supporters of OMV Move & Help at Run & Fun again this year. For every individual runner from the company who participated in the Vienna City Marathon 2007, OMV donated EUR 10 to Move & Help. Moreover, during the event fans could also exert themselves for OMV Move & Help on a treadmill in the OMV Company Zone at Heldenplatz. For every ten meters run, one euro was added to the OMV Move & Help kitty. Along with sales for the worthy cause of the OMV Move & Help cocktail recipe book, a total of EUR 9,085 for OMV Move & Help projects was put together.

International Education Program

In 2007 OMV and its established partners Caritas, SOS Children's Villages and UNICEF are again working together to carry out numerous education projects in Europe and Pakistan. This year new emphasis is being placed on the subject of road safety. Caritas is launching safety training courses for teachers and organizing city trips for children where they can practice what they have learned about road safety in real life. SOS Children's Village is supporting moped training for teenagers, L17 driver's license training and refresher courses for those who have recently gotten their driver's license. UNICEF is addressing the subject of road safety by making the way to school safer for children at dangerous places.

Future Prospects through Education for over 35,000 Children

OMV Move & Help is the largest charity campaign in the group’s history. Following the successful start of the program in 2004, OMV is supporting the following education projects for children and teenagers carried out by experienced and successful international aid organizations.
